Happy April! This month, we are celebrating Move More Month which aims to encourage people to become more active.
Exercise is an important part of our daily routine, though, sometimes it might be difficult to make the time.
According to the Mayo Clinic, exercise controls weight, promotes sleep and combats health conditions and diseases.
There’s no doubt that it’s important and you can make small decisions that can fit into a larger picture.
For example, could you fit a walk in two to three times a week? Could you take the stairs instead of the elevator? If you’re a fan of yoga or open to it, you can do a few simple moves in your office or at your desk.
Experts say there are consequences of a sedentary lifestyle. According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the leading cause of death in the United States.
With that being said, we at Altos Mobile Massage encourage you to get up – get out – and get moving!
Here are a few ideas to help you stay active:
Exercise at work
- Parking farther away from your office building could be a great way to make yourself walk more.
- Take a walk when you’re on break or choose the stairs instead of the elevator.
- Walk to a nearby restaurant or cafe to save money on gas and adding more steps in.
- Create a group competition to see who can get in the most steps daily.
Get the entire family involved
- Head to the park to throw a ball around, shoot some hoops, and maybe try a new sport together.
- Indoor activities are a great option when the weather is not as cooperative: like dancing, yoga, and bowling.
