A rejuvenating massage after a stressful day at work can make a world of difference for a super busy person. Relaxing the muscles and relieving the pain is a good way to close out the day especially when it’s done in the right way.
While home massages don’t have to be elaborate, receiving one goes a very long way which is why if you have the budget to spare, booking one regularly is a smart move.
Massage Tables
Lying on a bed or a sofa are great alternatives but getting a massage on top of a massage table offers a better experience. This is not something you should worry about, however, because our massage therapists always bring their own massage tables with them.
Massage tables allow our therapists to reach certain areas of your body conveniently, letting them maneuver around it with absolute freedom, something that’ll be difficult to achieve with a bed or couch.
The softness and firmness of the cushion are both equally important because couches and beds can be either too soft or too firm compared to those that come with massage tables which are soft but appropriately cushioned, giving your body the support it needs.
These massage tables are also foldable and collapsible, giving you the freedom to choose which part of the house you wish to get your massage from.
Massage Oils
The choice of massage oil is also an important consideration. While baby oil always comes in handy especially for home massages, it is still made from mineral oil which is a petroleum by-product. If you want to get the best out of every massage session, food-grade, plant-based oils are the better choice.
Jojoba oil, for example, is similar to the oil our body produces while grape-seed oil comes with a light texture and are unscented but is quickly absorbed by the skin.
Specially blended oils are also good alternatives though they usually come with strong fragrances that can remain on your skin for quite some time.
Biotone creams are also great for massages. Not only are they all natural and organic, but they’re also hypoallergenic.
Keeping these oils in the refrigerator in between uses is a good practice so you can keep them from going putrid. You can then just place the bottle in a bowl of hot water to warm them up before you start using them.
Our massage therapists prefer plant based massage oils and lotions so this is what they will bring to your massage session.
Aromatherapy products
Besides the soothing relief, setting the mood and the ambiance right also makes a huge difference.
Getting the right scent and lighting can enhance the experience which is why lighting a couple of scented candles and adding essential oils to a diffuser while lying in a dark or dimly-lit room is preferable.
The scent of lavender oil, for example, is perfect for giving the room a relaxing aroma while invigorating scents like mint or eucalyptus are good for relieving fatigue and clearing sinuses.
Essential oils can be used by diffusing into the air or directly on the skin. However, if you have skin sensitivities, please let your therapist know that at the beginning of the massage.
Music
Also good for setting the mood is a couple of relaxing tracks in the background. Music itself is already an effective form of therapy. Combining music with massage creates an entirely different yet relaxing atmosphere, effectively blocking out any unwanted noise or conversations that can ruin the experience.
Our therapists play music from several playlists offered by apps like Pandora and Spotify that are soothing sounds and tones that help to relax you. Much of the music incorporates natural sounds like ocean waves splashing, birds in a meadow, and rain falling gently. Feel free to tell us what kind of music you want us to play during your massage in case you would like to use that music for mood setting or meditation on your own.
